Regional Skills training and Assessment For ALS Teachers Teaching Technology and Livelihood Education.

Fair chance of learning and acquiring of skills were the main purpose of Alternative Learning System or ALS. This was made possible through the initiative of the government alongside Department of Education (DepEd) and with coordination of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). To make come true the goals of the government for the ALS teachers to be fully equipped with skills and knowledge that they would pass on to their students, the Regional Skills Training and Assesment for ALS Teachers (Mobile Teachers and District ALS Coordinators) Teaching Technology and Livelihood Education was conducted and the region has specifically chosen Goldenstate College of General Santos among all the other schools in the region to become the venue of this prestigious event.

The event officially commenced last January 13, 2018 and expected to last on January 25, 2018. The school was greatly privileged to be chosen as the host for the said program. There are 90 participants identified in every Divisions of Region XII, each of them will choose one from the eight given courses, to wit: Cookery, Bread and Pastry, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Welding, Automotive, Massage, and Bartending. Mrs. Erlinda P. Rellon, one of the attendees and a District ALS Coordinator, humbly said, “Kahit teachers na kami, students kami ngayon. We don’t treat ourselves as teachers but as students. It’s normal that sometimes our mentors are strict but we understand them because we ourselves were teachers as well.” She also added that they were very thankful that Goldenstate College was equipped with the necessary facilities they would need for their assessment including foods and accommodations.

The participating divisions from DepEd Region XII are Kidapawan, Cotabato Province, Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, Tacurong City, Sarangani Province, Koronadal City, South Cotabato and General Santos City.

True enough to its goal the Goldenstate College is passionate on extending assistance to the government so that the out of school youth and those who have the willingness to learn will still be able to acquire skills necessary to improve their lives and this 13 day seminar and workshop is a validation of it.
