“This is a very special day for all of us, a day intended for us to socialize with everyone, go around and meet your schoolmates”. Warren Manilay, MNSA and CEO of Goldenstate College on his opening speech on Goldenstate College’s 18th acquaintance party. College life can be tough; the exams, all the homework, all the pressure you have to endure. We all deserve to wind down from all the stress we get. According to Aristotle, human beings are “social animals” and therefore naturally seek the companionship of others as part of their well being, and gatherings are one effective way for us to become mature and full members of our society.
“This is the best party I’ve ever been to”. Jay Costorio, school’s club and organization coordinator and a master of ceremony of Goldenstate College’s acquaintance party 2018, described this year’s bash. Hosting its first ever fantasy costume event, student party-goers and cosplayers arrived wearing their fancy colourful attires. Some participants guised in popular characters from TV shows, movies, comic books, and video games. Robots, like Bumblebee of Transformers, and Baymax of Big Hero 6 wandered around the venue. Fairytale creatures and icons like Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Maleficent, forest fairies and elves made the day enchanting. Popular heroes and villains were also spotted in the event; Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Lara Croft, Zorro, Marvel’s Mystique of the X-Men universe, and a trio of DC Comics’ Jokers. Fur, glitters, grandiose capes, and lavish accessories also adorned the original festive creations of some participants. The school also gave away prizes to party-goers with best costumes. Clint Gabales, BSHRM, bested the student category with his Bumblebee attire, while Mr. John Victor Manuel got the grand prize in the teacher’s category in his El Zorro get up.
The party wouldn’t be complete without the guest artist from Manila. Inviting local celebrity guests on parties has become a tradition of the school; this also made the institution in the city to be the only one to have famous performers on its ever party. The girls have gone crazy over this year’s star, the dashing Allen Cecilio. He was a contestant of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Boyband Superstar. He earned the highest vote from the girls during audition but didn’t make it further through the competition. However he still pursued his passion in performing. He captivated the hearts of the girls of Goldenstate with his irresistible charm as he serenaded them with his rendition of the songs “Smile In Your Heart”,”Dahil Sa’yo”, and his latest single, “Baby Ko”.
After Allen’s performance, everyone raved as the foam machines filled the party grounds with bubbling fun and Wilhelm Dangane, a senior high school HUMSS student, set the party vibe with his upbeat mixes. According to the freshmen; they’ve enjoyed the party so much, it wasn’t like any other. And much better than the previous ones, said the old students. Expect for more exciting parties to come.
